And the crowd goes wild in Chickasaw Country. Gameday season is here, and with it comes fan gear, road trips and tailgating. Whether you are cheering on your favorite college team, supporting youth leagues or attending a professional game, Chickasaw Country has the perfect itinerary for you.
In this guide, we follow Interstate 35 from southern Oklahoma to central Oklahoma. If your route takes you from Oklahoma to Texas instead, no problem, follow this itinerary in reverse!
First Stop- Thackerville
Play, Stay and Dine

Second Stop- Ardmore
A Family-Friendly Detour
Ardmore is home to Lake Murray State Park, one of Oklahoma’s most scenic recreation areas. It provides an excellent spot to stretch your legs and get some fresh air.
Traveling families can make a pit stop at The Clubhouse, a family entertainment center offering mini golf, go-karts and arcade games. Dining onsite at The Clubhouse Café is an easy way to refuel without additional stops.
For rest and relaxation, Lakecrest Casino and Hotel offers traditional lodging and an RV park. Located right off the interstate, Lakecrest is a beacon for easy access.
Third Stop- Davis
A Place of Convenience
Located in the heart of the Arbuckle Mountains, Davis is ideal for quick, convenient stops. Pull off for a quick grab-and-go snack at Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies, a Chickasaw Country favorite. Or if you have more time to spare, stop by Smokin’ Joe’s Rib Ranch for classic Oklahoma barbecue.
If you are traveling with your furry companion, they want to stretch their legs too! Head over to the Chickasaw Nation Welcome Center, where you will find a well-maintained dog park, perfect for Fido to get his zoomies out. This stop also features a restroom break, First American shopping and made-in-Oklahoma treats, including Bedré Fine Chocolate.
Fourth Stop- Pauls Valley
Small Town, Big Spirit
Pauls Valley offers a mix of fun attractions and gameday prep. Stop by the Toy and Action Figure Museum for a nostalgic break. The White Feather boutique provides an excellent opportunity to pick up stylish gameday gear or a last-minute outfit.
Pet owners will appreciate the Paws Valley Dog Park, giving everyone a chance at fresh air before the next leg of the journey.
Final Stop- Chickasha
Youth Sport Central
Chickasha is a hub for youth sports tournaments and an accessible location for fans heading to Norman or the Oklahoma City metro area. Families can cool off at UpTown Scoops Microcreamery or enjoy mini golf at the Jungle Ice Fun Zone.
For gameday shopping, check out the local boutiques. And remember, no stop through Chickasha is complete without a photo op at the infamous Leg Lamp.
Honorable Mention- Norman
Game Day City
Located just north of Chickasha, Norman is home to Riverwind Hotel and Casino. Right off I-35, it is an excellent lodging option for travelers, offering gaming, dining and entertainment. The central location also provides an easy connection to Oklahoma City, making it a strategic stay for your sporting event.
