With more shoreline than the entire East and Gulf coasts combined, it’s no wonder why anglers from across the world flock to Oklahoma. Large bodies of water and a variety of trophy fish call Oklahoma home, and it’s no different here in Chickasaw Country. In 2019, nine lakes and rivers in Chickasaw Country were officially named along Oklahoma’s Fishing Trail. We’re highlighting the south-central loop of the Fishing Trail here!

Lake of the Arbuckles

Named the best bass fishing lake in Oklahoma by the Department of Wildlife Conservation, you’ll discover clear waters and more than 35 miles of beautiful shoreline along the western front of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Located south of Sulphur, largemouth bass isn’t the only species you’ll find here; cast your line for crappie, catfish and bluegill. Also, don’t forget to keep an eye on the sky as this area is the winter home to many bald eagles!
