Spend Galentine’s Day the Chickasaw Country Way
We all know Valentine’s Day is Feb. 14, but the day that often gets overlooked is the day before - Galentine’s Day. According to Parks and Recreation character Leslie Knope, it’s the one day of the year dedicated to “ladies celebrating ladies.”
Why only celebrate one day when you could celebrate a whole weekend with your favorite girls? Plan for a weekend in south-central Oklahoma to celebrate with your best gal pals!
Weekend spa trip in Tish
If you and the girls are looking to be pampered (and who wouldn’t!) we recommend celebrating Galentine’s Day in Tishomingo. The Pennington Inn on Main Street is an adorable addition to the downtown Tishomingo scene. After getting checked-in, start the weekend off with a coffee or bakery treat from Home Décor and Café to perk up before catching a movie at The Indie Cinema. After the movie, head over to Snapper Shack Grill & Oyster Bar for a delicious meal and don't forget to try the boiled seafood! After dinner, walk across the street to Mulberry Wine Bar & Retail to finish the night and relax with a glass of wine.
After a restful night of sleep, head to Boom-a-rang Diner for breakfast. Once you've finished breakfast, the spa day begins at Spa 211 with a facial or massage. You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated and glowing from head to toe. Top off your girls weekend off with a shopping spree on Main Street – we recommend local Tish favorites Kedford Boutique, Murray on Main and The Stag.
Wine and Dine in Marlow
If your group of girlfriends is into wine, we’ve got the perfect spot for you in Marlow! You’ll want to plan for a couple of days to experience the best this small-town gem has to offer - including shopping! Start off your weekend with a few stops along Main Street shopping at Broadway and Main or Marlow Mercantile and stay caffeinated with a trip to Brothers Barista. Create your own masterpiece at Missing Bristle Pottery Studio before a wine tasting at Cotton Blossom Winery, a local winery that specializes in small batch, hand-crafted wine with 16 different varieties. Finish the day with a delicious Italian feast at Giuseppe’s. The historic building and delicious food will have everyone planning another trip to visit!
We recommend staying the night at the Rosewood Inn in Rush Springs. This bed and breakfast is less than 10 miles away and also boasts great shopping nearby.
Overnight Glamp Trip
If a cozy night in is how you’d rather celebrate Galentine’s Day, head to the northwest region of Chickasaw Country! You and your girlfriends can escape the day-to-day stress for a weekend tucked away in nature. Pack your bags (and a few groceries) for a weekend home away from home at 3J Farms in Blanchard. This cozy cabin has full amenities and is the perfect place for a night full of games, movies, delicious food, dance parties, you name it!
After breakfast, head to Ya Ya’s Nest, Shear Lace Boutique and The Cottage on Main for shopping fun. Grab a sweet treat at Finny B’s Sweet Shoppe. Blanchard is also home to local favorite Burrito Grill, a perfect place to eat before heading home.
