Queso Trail in Chickasaw Country
What if queso were its own food group? There are five main food groups, but it should have their own category. There’s something about a delicious bowl of warm cheese dip and chips on a fall day that I find so wonderful. It’s the perfect food to eat while cheering for your favorite football team or eating after visiting a pumpkin patch in Chickasaw Country.
If you enjoy queso as much as I do, this blog is for you! Below are my favorite places to eat chips and cheese in south-central Oklahoma.
- Burrito Grill in Blanchard: This is a town favorite. It’s a fast-casual restaurant specializing in great food, ordered and served quickly. Order the chicken burrito and of course, queso. The chips were fresh out of the oven, and the queso was creamy, cheesy goodness. If you want to explore more of Blanchard, stop by The Cottage on Main or Shear Lace Boutique for cute clothes and home décor.
- A&E Grill in Chickasha: If you’ve never tried the Ultimate Queso at A&E Grill, then you’re missing out! The queso is layered with black beans and has a dollop of sour cream in the middle. The next time you’re in Chickasha, don’t forget to stop and try it. After you eat your share of ultimate queso, take a trip around town. You will find the Hoffman House Boutique for trendy clothes.
- Tio’s Fine Mexican Food in Pauls Valley: Oh, Tio’s! This was a wonderful stop for classic queso. Tio’s was named one of the top three Mexican restaurants in Oklahoma by Oklahoma Today Magazine. Since 1973, Tio’s has been using the same chef. Talk about consistent greatness! While you’re in Pauls Valley enjoying the classic Mexican food, explore the Toy and Action Figure Museum and the historic Santa Fe Depot in downtown Pauls Valley.
- Café Alley in Ardmore: Café Alley is a unique restaurant in south-central Oklahoma and so is the Caddo Dip. The dip is made of warm pimento cheese and topped with bacon, green onions, and guacamole. This is a must-try.
- Gonzalez Mexican Restaurant in Tishomingo: In the middle of Tishomingo, you will find Gonzalez Mexican Restaurant. It is a Tex-Mex style food with delicious queso! It’s a classic cheesy dip with tomatoes. The chips were warm and had the perfect amount of salt. If the weather is nice, you can even sit on their patio. Talk about a win, win.
