Chickasaw Country Celebrates the Holidays

Chickasaw Country, Okla. – It’s the most wonderful time of year, and the towns in Chickasaw Country are rolling out the tinsel, decking the halls and plugging in the lights to celebrate! With displays all aglow, these Chickasaw Country towns offer a variety of holiday activities from shopping events to parades. Below you will find a list of some of the holiday cheer you can experience across the region.

Ada, Oklahoma – 

The town of Ada shines bright during the holidays with its annual Trail of Lights in Wintersmith Park. Choose to drive or walk through the park’s brilliantly lit displays including the Forest of the Trees and the blue Memory Tree. The Trail of Lights is open nightly through Dec. 31.

More holiday events include:

  • Christmas on Main Street - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2
  • The Pat Taylor Memorial Parade of Lights - 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2

Ardmore, Oklahoma – 

The Festival of Lights features a one-and-a-half-mile-long drive through Ardmore’s Regional Park. With more than 150 lighted displays, the park is open nightly until Dec. 30.

More holiday events include:

  • 10th annual Christmas Tree Lighting - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28
  • Ardmore Parade of Lights – Nov. 28 following the Tree Lighting
  • The Jolly Trolley - 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Dec. 4, 5, 6 and 7. Tickets are available now for $10 per person.
  • Depot Nights & Christmas Lights, offering horse-drawn carriage rides throughout the Depot District - 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14 and 21

Chickasha, Oklahoma – 

The Chickasha Festival of Light is celebrating its 31st year in 2023. This free walk or drive-through park in Shannon Springs Park is the ultimate holiday light destination. In addition to the nearly 4 million lights throughout the park, the festival offers ice skating, a Ferris wheel, camel rides, carriage rides, food trucks and photos with Santa. The Festival of Light is open Tuesday through Sunday nights until Dec. 31.

  • Chickasha Christmas Parade – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2

Purcell, Oklahoma – 

Drive through more than two miles of lights around Purcell City Lake with the annual Lights From the Heart. Attendees will drive past static displays and through tunnels of magical lights. This wonderland of lights is free to the public from Thanksgiving Eve to New Year's Eve.

  • Purcell’s Christmas Parade – 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14

Sulphur, Oklahoma – 

Celebrate the holidays as you drive through the Chickasaw Cultural Center’s Celebration of Lights. The display includes dozens of lighted pieces throughout the campus depicting traditional Christmas themes, as well as several unique cultural additions. The lights are open nightly through Dec. 31.

More holiday events include:

  • Sulphur Parade of Lights – 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27
  • Classic Christmas at the Artesian – Daily from Dec. 1-23

Tishomingo, Oklahoma – 

The Chickasaw National Capitol will feature Christmas Lights at the Capitol nightly from Nov. 24 to Dec. 31. The lighted displays on the Capitol’s grounds feature many Chickasaw-themed pieces including animals important to the Chickasaw people and depictions of Chickasaw life.

More holiday events include:

  • Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Living Windows Walk – 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6
  • Country Music Christmas Festival - 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9
  • Johnston County Christmas Parade – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9

Duncan, Oklahoma –

  • Healdton Christmas Parade – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2

Lindsay, Oklahoma - 

  • Lindsay Christmas Parade – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30

Minco, Oklahoma – 

  • Minco Christmas Parade of Lights – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25
