Blue River
Those looking for an outdoor adventure will enjoy Tishomingo, Oklahoma's majestic Blue River. This 3,367-acre river is best known for its abundance of rainbow trout, small-mouth and largemouth bass, spotted bass, crappie and channel catfish. During the colder months of November through mid-March Blue River is a designated trout area with rainbow trout stocked every two weeks. Meanwhile, if you are looking for catfish visit this reservoir in the spring and summer when channel catfish are regularly stocked.
The Blue River Association plays host to two annual trout derbies that take place the first in November on Veteran's Day Weekend and the second in February on President's Day Weekend. Both derbies draw true blue anglers from all over the region who come to fish and compete in friendly competition for cash prizes, awards and trophies. Visitors do need a fishing license to participate in any fishing activity at Blue River. Those in need of a license can find Hunting and Fishing licenses at the nearby Chickasaw Nation Information Center.
