Sharing the Story of the Chickasaw Nation! The Chickasaw Visitor Center is located at the corner of Broadway and S.H. 7 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Designed to provide information and tell the story of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, the Visitor Center serves a wide range of tourists, highlights local attractions and communicates the Chickasaw Nation’s connection to the area.
This Quarter's Featured Artist at the Chickasaw Visitor Center is J. Ross Davis, Chickasaw Visitor Center, Sulphur
Davis is an award-winning Cherokee photographer and artist from Warner, Oklahoma. He is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Davis is an avid photographer and graphic artist, specializing in wildlife and landscape art. Davis has been featured in many art shows and festivals and has been honored with awards including first place photography at the 2018 Southeastern Art Show and Market, first place photography at the 2017 Artesian Arts Festival and first place graphics at the 2016 Cherokee Art Market.
The Chickasaw Visitor Center is now selling hunting and fishing licenses required by the state of Oklahoma for recreational hunting and fishing. All variations of the license will be available for purchase seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Chickasaw Visitor Center is an information hub and gateway to Chickasaw National Recreation Area, the only national park established at the request of a Native American tribe, the Chickasaw Nation.
The 8,500 square-foot facility includes an information desk, two informational kiosks, a multi-purpose gallery, gift shop, media room, pergola style patio area, public restrooms, bike share program, penny press machine and complimentary coffee service. The retail portion of the Chickasaw Visitor Center carries Chickasaw Country souvenirs and apparel, local environment books and Chickasaw Press books, Native American gift items and nature-related gift items. Works of art and photography by Native American artists are also on display at the facility, including a prominent wall sculpture by Chickasaw artist Paul Moore.
