Christmas Bird Count at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area
The Chickasaw National Recreation Area is hosting its annual Christmas Bird Count in Sulphur, Oklahoma and seeking volunteers to help monitor winter bird populations. If you are an avid bird watcher or someone who is intrigued to learn more about Oklahoma winter birds, then you have the opportunity to do so. Participants will sign up as volunteers and are welcome to stay just for a few hours in the morning or to continue into the afternoon. Be prepared to spend most of the time outdoors, no matter the weather conditions. Since its start in 1901, the Christmas Bird Count has relied on participants to monitor healthy winter bird populations and is one of the longest running citizen science projects in the world.
