- 6:00 p.m.
You are invited to the 125th Anniversary of the Chickasaw National Capitol Dedication in Tishomingo, Oklahoma! Enjoy a come and go reception with appetizers to celebrate this historic testament and perseverance of the Chickasaw people.
Completed in November of 1898, the Victorian, gothic-style structure served as the capitol for the Chickasaw people until 1907. The building is made of red granite from a local quarry once owned by Governor R.M. Harris and is over 8,000 square feet. In 1992, the capitol building was reclaimed by Governor Bill Anoatubby and serves as a museum and reminder that the Chickasaw people fought for their tribal identity and independence.
