A Chickasaw Country Christmas

There is something special about the holiday season – the events, holiday-themed attractions and snacks, shopping, lights, family and friends.

Let us help you celebrate your holidays in Chickasaw Country with a way to connect with family and friends, relax in a cozy cabin, explore new cities and events and learn about the area at the same time!

Ada:

The Trail of Lights at Wintersmith Park is a must-visit for the holidays. Choose to drive or walk through thousands of lights in Wintersmith Park between November 20 and December 31 to experience this twinkling wonderland. With static displays, lit arches, the Forest of Trees and a blue memory tree, there is plenty to see as you make your way through the park.

Take in a show at McSwain Theatre. Whether its their annual Christmas Spectacular or a weekly film, the beautifully restored McSwain Theatre should be on your list for the holiday season.

Shop for the perfect gift at one of the area’s boutiques and gift shops. Grab the perfect stocking stuffers at Ada’s Candy Shoppe or Nine Month’s Etc. Dress in holiday style with apparel from EVER Boutique or R+R Apparel Co. The Chickasaw Market on West Main Street offers unique First American art and jewelry.

Scissortail Retreat in nearby Stratford is your go-to place to stay for the holidays. This complex of three cabins and one cottage is perfect for gathering the entire family in one place. Each cabin sleeps four to six people and is located on a sprawling rural property that has two ponds and sunset views.

Sulphur:

The Chickasaw Cultural Center offers a world of opportunities to learn and connect with First American history, and during the holidays, the Center decks the halls with light displays throughout the campus. The annual Celebration of Lights is a spectacular drive-thru light display featuring dozens of displays with traditional Christmas themes, as well as unique cultural additions. The lights are on nightly from November 30 through December 31.

Want to see Christmas lights from a different perspective? Take a drive up to Bromide Hill Overlook in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and see the lights of Sulphur from above. But be careful, this rocky terrain is a challenge to navigate even in the daytime so stick to the trail itself.

Shop for gifts for everyone on your list in Sulphur. Shop Chickasaw-owned Mahota Textiles for a truly unique gift. Their blankets, purses and scarves are beautifully crafted. The Chickasaw Visitor Center is a great stop for the National Park enthusiast! From walking sticks and water bottles to t-shirts and books, you are sure to find that perfect gift. While at the Visitor Center, check out the current featured artist and purchase a piece for a souvenir like no other.

Looking for a magical holiday experience with an overnight stay? The Artesian Hotel, Casino & Spa can be your home away from home for the holidays. In addition to the luxurious hotel rooms, indoor pool, spa and fitness area, onsite restaurants and casino games (for the adults), the Artesian presents its annual Classic Christmas. Featuring visits with Santa, carolers, story time with Mrs. Claus and complimentary snacks, Classic Christmas will soon be a favorite for the entire family.

Looking for a cozier stay in Sulphur? Book the Highland Hideout for a quiet, farmhouse experience on 80 acres just four miles north of Sulphur. The farmhouse features two bedrooms and two baths with adorable Highland cattle roaming the property.

Duncan:

Kiddieland Park is a recreational attraction in Fuqua Park. Known for a generational experience, Kiddieland has been open for more than 50 years. Plan to visit the park the first and second weekends in December for the Kiddieland Holiday Experience complete with holiday train rides, a visit with Santa and seasonal treats.

Have a cowboy Christmas when you purchase gifts from the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center gift shop. From books and jewelry to ornaments and games, the gift shop is a great place to shop after touring the museum. Don’t miss The 3 French Hens on Duncan’s West Main Street. They have the cutest home décor and gifts. You are sure to find that special something for your entire list! Southern Okie’s Boutique is your place to shop for all things women’s apparel – from the top of your head to the soles of your feet!

Lindley House B&B is a great place to spend your holidays while exploring Duncan and the surrounding area. Lindley House offers three private cottages with all the amenities of home. You can relax from a day of shopping in the jacuzzi tubs or the luxurious King size beds.

Chickasha:

Nominated for USA Today’s 10Best Public Holiday Light Display, the Chickasha Festival of Light boasts over four million twinkling lights in Shannon Springs Park. You can drive through the light trail or walk through the park at your leisure. But we do suggest getting out of your car and walking through the lights for the best experience. In addition to the lights, they offer carriage rides, a Ferris wheel and an ice-skating rink!

Another can’t miss in Chickasha is the 50-foot Leg Lamp. Yes, like the leg lamp from the Christmas classic “A Christmas Story.” This permanent installation was added to downtown Chickasha in 2022 after a blow-up installation was in its place for several years. The lampshade changes colors for a spectacular display of fun and nostalgia. This is one of the most photographed spots in Chickasha!

Shop Okie Mountain Trading Co for all things gifts, from home décor and candles to candy, soda and Made in Oklahoma products. Grab a tee at Wing T’s custom screen printing and boutique. Choose from a variety of graphic tees including Oklahoma-themed, seasonal holidays and your favorite local team too! Tammie’s Bling is less than one block from the Leg Lamp and is your go-to for holiday apparel. Specializing in women’s clothing and accessories, this shop is sure to have what you need to complete your holiday wardrobe.
